About Rehoboth Beach Main Street (RBMS)

Rehoboth Beach Main Street, Inc. a nonprofit organization comprised of our wonderful merchants and supportive residents who love downtown Rehoboth Beach and are dedicated to keeping it a real hometown and a thriving resort community. Rehoboth Beach Main Street celebrates our amazing community, our commitment to support local and our passion for our unique breathtaking downtown. Beach Main Street works to promote downtown Rehoboth Beach as a year-round beach town with a vibrant commercial area, attractive signage and storefronts, a full calendar of events, and economic programs benefiting the business and residential community.
Mission Statement
Rehoboth Beach Main Street is a not-for-profit, volunteer-driven organization. Our mission is to foster and promote a vibrant, year-round, in-town experience for businesses, residents, and visitors alike.
Rehoboth Beach Main Street Executive Director, Dan Slagle

Dan Slagle has 30 years’ small business experience and a skill set to successfully collaborate with downtown Rehoboth Beach business owners, merchants, residents and community leaders to promote the positive image of downtown Rehoboth Beach as a great place to visit, shop, dine and invest.
Our Board of Directors

Suzie Martin
President
Suzie Martin has been with Rehoboth Beach Main Street since 2018, joined the board in 2021, and has served as President since 2024. She lived the life of a corporate gypsy with her husband, Jeff, moving around the country and overseas to Hong Kong for a period of time. Having vacationed in Rehoboth and visiting Jeff’s parents who were full-time residence for 30 years, they decided to put down their roots here and stay planted.

Sherri Brown
Secretary
Sherri Brown is a Delaware native and Rehoboth Beach resident. Sherri held a career in public service, including 10 years with the American Red Cross. She has significant experience with executive level administration, including long-range strategic planning, budgeting, financial management, human resources, and technology.

Blake Carey
General Counsel
Blake Carey is an attorney with The Smith Firm in Rehoboth Beach. He was admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court of the State of Delaware in 2008 and is a member of the Delaware State and Sussex County Bar Associations.

Herb Engert
Board Member
Herb Engert brings more than 30 years of board governance, global leadership, and financial expertise to the RBMS Board of Directors. Herb most recently served as Partner and Business Leader for EY (formerly Ernst and Young LLC), where he also served as New York Office Managing Partner, Global Private Equity Leader, EY Americas Strategic Growth Markets Leader, and Private Equity Portfolio Partner. Herb moved to Rehoboth Beach from New York City in 2023.

Bob Golden
Board Member
Bob Golden has lived in Rehoboth Beach for over 35 years. Bob was a global energy executive and later an insurance executive. He has served as a director of multiple global corporate boards and lived /worked overseas. Bob is an officer of the St. Edmond Knights of Columbus.

Tom Johnson
Board Member
Tom Johnson is a realtor with Weichert-Beach Bound Realty and Host / Lead with Blackwall Hitch in Rehoboth Beach. He also serves as Host with Above the Dunes Restaurant. Tom is a former restaurant owner / partner with Café Zeus.

Peter Pizzolongo
Board Member
Peter Pizzolongo chairs the Communications Committee and also serves as Vice-President of the Lewes Senor Activity Center Board and the Clear Space Theatre Producers Circle. Peter is an early childhood educator who spent 40+ years working in various educational programs in Wilmington DE, Chester PA, and Washington DC. He and his spouse Carlos have been full-time Rehoboth Beach residents since 2018.

Mike Venanzi
Board Member
Prior to opening restaurants, Mike Venanzi was in the Pharmaceutical Industry for 20 years. Since then, Mike has owned and operated 8 restaurants. Currently he is the Managing Partner of Above the Dunes and has had a restaurant in Rehoboth Beach for 20 plus years. Mike has resided in Rehoboth Beach for the last 5 years.

Cindy Lovett

In 1997 Cindy Lovett’s husband, Paul, and she purchased the McQuay Building. Cindy served on the City’s Streets and Transportation Committee for eight years. In 2018, Cindy joined the board of Rehoboth Beach Main Street and started Rehoboth in Bloom in 2019.

Rick Perry

Rick Perry has been an attorney for over 45 years focused on corporate, securities, and banking law. Rick moved to Rehoboth Beach full-time in 2013. Since then, he has been a strong advocate for property owner rights and an ardent supporter of our local business community. He also contributes significantly to causes such as Clear Space Theatre, CAMP Rehoboth, the Delaware Humane Association, and Beebe Hospital, among many other charitable organizations.

Rachel Macha
Vice President
Rachel Macha is a Delaware native and Rehoboth Beach resident for 25 years. Rachel has held senior executive Sales, Marketing, Client Services, and Planning roles in the BPO/Technology industries. Over the past 25 years, in addition to her role on the RBMS Board, she served on the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware Board of Directors for over 10 years. Rachel also served on various committees at her children’s schools: St. Ann School, Padua High School, and Salesianum High School.

Gerry Beaulieu
Treasurer
Gerry Beaulieu comes to RBMS with many years of experience in the world of finance. Prior to serving on the RBMS Board, Gerry was Treasurer and Board Member of the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society and a member of the Clear Space Theatre Finance Committee.

Jen Carroll
Board Member
Jen Carroll and her husband have been splitting time between Bethesda MD and Rehoboth Beach their whole life. Now Full time Rehoboth Beach residents, Jen brings her marketing and retail experience as well as promotions expertise as a former business owner. She has vast Board experience in Washington DC and now also serves on the Board at Beebe Hospital.

Jerry Filbin
Board Member
Jerry Filbin joined the RBMS Board in 2020 and served as Board Secretary until 2025. He retired from the US Environmental Protection Agency in 2015 where he was an environmental scientist, policy analyst, and program manager. Jerry also worked post-retirement at CAMP Rehoboth, providing community-based HIV prevention counseling and testing services. He currently serves as Board President for the Delaware HIV Consortium. Jerry has been RBMS's main grant proposal writer since 2021 and is our voice on Radio Rehoboth 99.1 FM.

Alli Hutchinson
Board Member
Alli Hutchinson is General Manager of Coast Rehoboth Beach, Tapestry Collection by Hilton / Sirocco Food & Drink. Previously, Alli was General Manager of Hyatt House Lewes / Rehoboth Beach.

Dana Peccon
Board Member
Dana Peccon has been a small business owner since 2012. Dana and her husband Kevin own Beaches—The Green Truck Shop, located at 33-C Baltimore Avenue in beautiful downtown Rehoboth Beach. Previously, she owned Three Simple Treasures, located in Williamsport, Maryland. Dana was a teacher/principal designee, assistant principal and behavioral case manager in Maryland for twenty-five years. She finalized her years in education as an adjunct professor in the Sociology Department at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland.

Steve Scheffer
Board Member
Steve Scheffer has been a Rehoboth Beach resident for nearly 10 years after moving from Virginia. Steve began his career as a Naval officer and completed his career as a supervisory contracting officer for the U.S. Department of Education. In between, he was employed as a contracts director/senior contracts manager for Price Waterhouse, PricewaterhouseCoopers, IBM, Perot Systems and Dell Corporation.

Carolyn Diefenderfer

Carolyn Diefenderfer is a native of Elliott City MD but has called Delaware home for 35 years. Carolyn now resides in Rehoboth Beach and comes to us with 6 years of public accounting experience and 29 years of experience in the healthcare industry where she was responsible for system setup and billing for skilled nursing facilities across the country.

James Mease
Ex Officio
James Mease serves as the Communications Committee Vice Chair and is also a member of the Design Committee and Rehoboth in Bloom. Additionally, Jim volunteers as a Camp Rehoboth Concierge and serves as Treasurer of his Homeowners Association. He and spouse Philip Vehslage have lived in Rehoboth Beach since 2010. Jim retired as a Department of the Army Civilian from the Department of Defense in January 2012.
Committees
COMMUNICATIONS serves as the focal point for communicating RBMS
accomplishments, partnerships, and direction, while promoting our membership and the
City of Rehoboth Beach to both local and regional audiences.
ECONOMIC VITALITY focuses on capital, incentives, and other economic and financial tools to assist new and existing businesses, catalyze property development, and create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs & innovators that drive our local economy.
DEVELOPMENT develops programs and initiatives for RBMS that promote, encourage,
and facilitate the development and growth of RBMS, as well as develops an ongoing
multi-year fundraising plan to ensure the long-term financial and institutional viability of
RBMS.
DESIGN & BEAUTIFICATION supports our downtown community by creating a visible,
inviting, inclusive atmosphere for downtown Rehoboth Beach that celebrates our historic character and fosters accessible people-centered public spaces.
PROMOTION positions our downtown as the center of the community and hub of economic activity, while creating a positive image that showcases our unique characteristics.
ORGANIZATION involves creating a strong foundation for a sustainable revitalization effort, including cultivating partnerships, community involvement, and resources for downtown Rehoboth Beach.
